The Secret of Happiness : How to Achieve Happiness

What is the secret of happiness? While we can say "each for our own sake," we can also ask the knowledge of the yugas, and the modern sages, to find some timeless principles of bliss. With this in mind, I have found the most effective way to improve happiness is to enjoy your happiness and increase happiness from under your feet. And the beauty is that, wherever you are, you can start your journey of happiness from there.

10 ways to achieve happiness

Here are 10 ways to help you in your journey of happiness:

1. Drive happily :

Ultimately happiness is a decision to drive. One you flip this switch, you actually set the stage to find excuses as to why you are happy rather than excuses.

2. What matters is counting.

Sometimes it's the little things that count the most. Don't let the good stuff pass by you, just because you didn't notice. A simple way to do this is to end your day thinking three of your favorite highlights of the day.

3. Focus on what is right, not what is wrong.

If you ask yourself, "What's wrong with this picture?"

4. Do not pay attention to things.

Getting distracted. To empower yourself, find a new way to look at the picture, and find some simple actions you can take. Action increases your power and speed, and is a way to break out of self-defeating paradigms and discover new happiness habits.

5. There is a short term view, and a long term view.

You can't be happy in the moment, but will you be happy for a long time? This is a supply question. Sometimes the best you can do is all you can do, and it is a way to get the most out of any situation.

6. The best model.

Find people in your life who have sparkles in their eyes, and who leave them at their feet. What comes naturally to them may not come naturally to you. Get curious, and find out what makes them tickle and how they deal with common scenarios. Be curious, and you will find many people liking what they like to share, including happiness… and it is contagious.

7. Spend more time in your values.

First you have to be clear about your value. For example, maybe you really value freedom, or maybe it's adventure, or maybe it's time. Spend more time in what you value, and you will start improving your happiness. You don't always have to do "what". Sometimes, you can "do" it. For example, if you like to learn, find a way on the job to learn a little more about what you do.

8. Remove or embrace the stuff that holds you back.

Sometimes it means accepting things as they are. Sometimes it means not accepting it and addressing it directly or finding a way to get the most out of it. If there is something that holds back your happiness, face it, and make it a project. Sometimes the best way to increase happiness is to reduce the things that sour our lives.

9. Set your happiness bar.

Not all of us roam as sun, blue skies, rainbows, and unicorn rays. The trick is to find out what happiness means to you, and be okay with that stripe, rather than beat yourself up if it seems that someone else's happiness potential is greater than yours. This may be just their nature. Instead of going against the grain, work with what you have and always remember that happiness is a personal thing.

10. Make it a skill.

If you think of happiness as a skill, then you can continue to add it to your bag of tricks, and get better over time. You can draw from books, people, and quotes to create an arsenal of joy tools that you can use for any scenario. And, like any skill, you will get better with practice. Additionally, if you have failures, always remember that happiness is a process, and you will increase your skills, as you expand your happiness potential and abilities.

Watch the short-term view and the long-term happiness

Perhaps, the greatest insight of our modern times on happiness is that happiness must be addressed with two questions:

How happy are you
How happy are you with your life?
The first question is how happy you are in the present moment. The second question is more about fulfillment. While you may not find happiness in your moment-to-moment experience, you may be able to turn your challenges into opportunities and work on personal fulfillment and meaning. In this way, you write your story ahead, and you can shape happiness in the long run.

Russell Bertrand on The Secret of Happiness

My friend, Dr. Michael, shared with me his thoughts about Bertrand Russell who believes in the secret of happiness. It went like this ... "Bertrand Russell believes that unhappiness is largely due to a mistaken view of the world, that happiness is a basic human right - the pursuit of something. He concludes that Happiness lies in a personality ”neither divided by itself. Nor the ability to swim against the world 'and' stream of life '. "
